Will the activity remain the same if a higher artist is involved? – As he criticizes the Headies organizers for disqualifying Portable, journalist Joey Akan asks

Will it be the same action, when it

Nigerian journalist Joey Akan has criticized the 2022 Headies Award organizers for disqualifying musician Portable due to his outrageous allegations that he founded “One Million Boys” and his threat to kill other contenders.

Remember that the controversial singer threatened to kill or hurt the other contenders in the same award categories as himself – “Rookie of the Year” and “Best Street-Hop Artiste” – if he doesn’t win last month in a viral video.

Last week, he was embroiled in another controversy after he went online to boast about forming Ajah Boys and One million boys, a notorious cult group terrorising some parts of Lagos State.

The Inspector General of Police, Usman Alkali Baba, was forced to order an investigation into the claims.  However, Portable quickly retracted his statement, claiming that the One Million Boys he referred to in the viral video are his fans and not any cult group .

With the  investigation still ongoing, the organisers of 2022 Headies Awards decided to disqualify him as a nominee at the forthcoming 15th Headies Awards last night.

Reacting to the news, Joey took to Twitter to question the reason behind the disqualification since police were still investigating the controverial singer.

He also questioned if the organisers would have taken the same decision if it was a ‘higher artist’ involved in the case.
