BLACKPINK takes us on a nostalgic ride with their new title track “Shut Down” from their 2022 sophomore album, BORN PINK. Kicking off with a sample of Paganini’s 1826 popular violin melody, “La Campanella,” the music video for “Shut Down” shows us how BLACKPINK is moving on from the past and starting a whole new era.
Similarly to their 2020 B-Side track “Pretty Savage,” “Shut Down” is a clap back at the hateful comments they received during hiatus. But it doesn’t matter how long BLACKPINK is away, whenever they come back, they’ll always be what everyone’s talking about.
In the music video, BLACKPINK closes down previous sets from older music videos. Once they close all of them, they reach an elevator showing them that the only way left is up.
